HEBREW
At the JRCC Hebrew School we utilize a highly successful readingprogram called the ‘Aleph Champ’ program.
This program is designed with a theme and motivation similar to thatf the traditional Karate system: using different colors to represent ahierarchy of levels in proficiency.
This system is an incredible tool for our students, since it enables eachtudent to work at his/her own pace and take pride as they master oneevel and move up to the next.

Our goal is that upon graduation, every child will be fluent in andcomfortable with reading Hebrew, especially the common parts ofhe liturgy.

HOLIDAYS
Lessons on each Jewish holiday will fill the calendar as we proceed from Rosh Hashanah and the High Holidays through Sukkot, Chanukah, Purim, Passover and the festival of Shavuot. The students will gain practical instruction about the laws and traditions through arts & crafts and hands-on learning. They will also learn about the meanings of each holiday and their relevant customs and importance today.

Prayer time focuses on the study and understanding of prayer and theiddur (prayer book). Students learn the meaning of each prayer as wellas some key words to remember. They also learn wonderful songs bothrom the liturgy as well as songs about Jewish life and traditions.

JEWISH LIFE
Students will explore and experience essential Jewish Mitzvot such ashabbat, Kosher, Mezuza, Tzedaka (charity), Respecting Parents, makinglessings and more.

ISRAELThe land of Israel, which we refer to as the ‘Holy Land’ is at the centerof our Jewish tradition. The special Israel Project will help the childrenearn about biblical and modern Israel: the history, geography, people, food, technology, etc

MOSHIACH
One of the famous 13 principals of the Jewish faith is the belief in the coming of Moshiach and ultimate redemption of the entire humanity.

The children will learn about this important concept and its Jewish approach, instilling them with a yearning and caring for the Jewish peoples future and destiny.

Our Mission

At the JRCC our goal is straight forward: We want our students to view Judaism in a warm, relevant and upbeat manner.
We are not just about learning and accumulating information. We strive to instill in the children a deep appreciation and love for the Torah and our Heritage and a taste for more!

Our Hebrew School offers a Hebrew Reading program – known as the ‘Aleph Champ’ – and an extensive Jewish studies curriculum, along with various fun activities, ‘Kiddie Chefs’, and celebrations evolving around the Jewish Holidays.
By year’s end, along with the Aleph-Bet, Holiday learning, Jewish history and the Mitzvot, your child will have developed deep feelings for who they are and how they are destined to grow up like, imbuing their every day with a sense of pride and purpose.

Covid-19 Policies

Everyone is asking the same question: how will the Hebrew School operate under the current concerns about the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic?
The answer is straight forward: we are following the situation closely and making sure to imply and comply by all provincial and City guidelines.

At the moment – with the spread of the pandemic in Ontario being at very low numbers and both public and private schools planning to open in September – we are planning to open up IN PERSON as well.

We will constantly be alert and follow all the provincial and City rules and guidelines to make sure the Hebrew School will run in a SAFE and HEALTHY manner.

Our facility at 18 Rockford Rd. is large enough to contain all Hebrew School classes with sufficient distance and air circulation etc. in addition to the other guidelines which we will have in place.

Of course, the last few months have proven that nothing is certain and things may change any day.

We are therefore constantly with a ‘hand on the pulse’ and ready to reevaluate and return to classes via Zoom or other solutions were there G-d forbid to break out a ‘second wave’ of the pandemic.

In the meantime, those who would like to opt for the ZOOM option, may do so as long as they are not yet comfortable to send their children in person.
